"The 1968 demonstration against the Miss America Pageant was a turning point for the women’s liberation movement. […] They had good reasons to distrust mainstream media, especially because the protest’s most memorable event—bra burning—never took place. “I never saw a bra burn in my entire life,” says Roz Payne, who filmed the Miss America protests. […] The bra-burning urban legend can be traced to a young female reporter at the New York Post. Lindsy Van Gelder wrote an article that drew parallels between the Miss America protest and another contemporary form of mass resistance: draft-card burning. Her satirical article, “Bra Burners and Miss America,” backfired after its ironic tone was lost in translation."

"Periodistas, no colaboren con el marasmo, y entiendan que el futuro no vendrá de mano de un libro de estilo mágico ni de un formato con propiedades extraordinarias, sino de un cambio de actitud generalizada en la que cada cual es protagonista y responsable. Tenemos que aportar mediaciones responsables, que dinamicen la asamblea imaginaria entre la comunidad y su realidad, no que conduzcan, decidan, o condicionen interesadamente."

Pelle Carlberg: Middleclass Kid (In A Nutshell, Labrador Recs, 2007)

My mother was a housewife,
My dad worked for a bank.
I thought I had the future,
The future in my hands.
Middleclass kid, middleclass guilt.
I thought I had the future in my hands.
My grandmas and my grandpas
All voted for the same conservative old party,
We thought it was a shame.
Middleclass kid, middleclass guilt.
'Cause we were more enlightened they would say,
And dad was making breakfast every day.

I can hear you in the first row,
I can hear you in the second row,
Tell me do you feel it too?
I can hear you in the third row,
And I can hear you in the fourth row, too,
Do you feel the way I do?

My sister had her own obnoxious little whores,
but she had trouble sleeping since her worst fear was divorce.
Middleclass kid, middleclass guilt.
She thought it might be her fault if they did.
She thought a lot of horse meat too i think.

I can hear you in the first row,
I can hear you in the second row,
Tell me do you feel it too?
I can hear you in the third row,
And I can hear you in the fourth row, too,
Do you feel the way I do?

My mom became a nurse,
While dad moved up in rank,
My sister went to london,
And I started a band.
Middleclass kid, middleclass guilt.
I thought I had the future in my hands.
Yeah, I thought I had a future in a band.

I can hear you in the first row,
I can hear you in the second row,
Tell me do you feel it too?
I can hear you in the third row,
And I can hear you in the fourth row, too,
Do you feel the way I do?

I can hear you in the first row,
I can hear you in the second row,
Tell me do you feel it too?
I can hear you in the third row,
And I can hear you in the fourth row, too,
Do you feel the way I do?

I can hear you in the first row,
I can hear you in the second row,
Tell me do you feel it too?
I can hear you in the third row,
And I can hear you in the fourth row, too,
Do you feel the way I do?
